Free Eye Screening and more! @ Elburn Lions Club | Elburn | Illinois | United States

Diabetic Retinopathy is the leading cause of new blindness in adults in the United States today. Early detection is a major factor in the prevention of visual loss.

From 12:00pm – 6:00pm on May 26th, 2015, the Elburn Lions Club will be offering a free diabetic retinopathy eye screening, in conjunction with Lions of Illinois Foundation and Illinois Retina Associates, SC. The screening may determine if you have a retinal problem associated with macular degeneration.

This program is designed to screen people who are in high-risk categories for Diabetic Retinopathy, including people with type 1 or type 2 diabetes, but we will be happy to provide eye screenings for people without diabetes as well.

Screenings are free and made possible through the use of a mobile unit which travels throughout Illinois. The mobile unit carries a non-mydriatic camera with digital imaging capability which photographs the retina.

These digital images (computer photos) of the retina are reviewed by professional staff at Illinois Retina Associates. Those found to exhibit symptoms of these retinal diseases after screening are encouraged to seek the ophthalmologic assistance of their choice.

The screenings will be held at our Club House, located at 500 Filmore St, Elburn IL.
